visitor

Someone followed andrew and I home on our nightly walk with Soren. "Little dog" (his name) had no tags and smelled terrible, but definitley belonged to someone. He and Soren did not get along...soren wouldn't even let him drink water and little dog kept trying to bite him. So, little dog slept outside and Resrie made some signs to post around the neighborhood. No one called all day, but i took him on a walk to talk to strangers to see who knew who he was. Believe it or not, I found his neighbor. "Jeff" (his real name) lives in a house with owners who don't lock their doors and don't have a fence that closes properly. I'm afraid I may see him again.

dog in snow

Another post in the dog series. (a dramatic device attempting to add suspense in the bathroom series.)

the bathroom series

After scrimping and saving for months, (which maybe I should have been doing for taxes, but this is more fun) I (or actually the fabulous contractor I use) redid my bathroom. Before...

baby steps

Leslie showed me how to make my own google homepage. A whole new world of time wasting has opened up to me. I can see what the best wines under $15, gardening tips, economist articles, top headlines from People Magazine, and traffic for my area. Best of all is an online version of "Real Simple" Magazine at my fingertips. I click through this and dream of the day that I will be paitent and enough in control of my ADD that I too can maintain a beautifully organized hall closet.

Certainties

In march of last year I swore to:

1. Keep my receipts in actual files rather than in the back of my wallet.

2. Finish them in January.

3. Keep such good track of my expenses that I would pay less than $1000, and be excused from Maryland State taxes.

None of this occured, although I have officially filed. I look forward to next year when, if I continue to tolerate my current baby dancing position at the Tide Point Day Care and Early Education Center, I will certainly get money BACK from the government.

nor'easter

Its a dark and stormy day here in baltimore. I have done battle with rainwater down the basement that comes in from under the back door. There's something wrong with a drain in the back..I bailed over a foot of water out from under the door and let the sump pump take care of the rest. My next house will work properly.

Last night I went to a poetry reading at the local children's bookstore. The inside has more of a feel of a community center. Dark green walls, drop ceiling, and decorations on the windows that were possibly from Christmas. The readers were of various shapes and sizes and shared their (or their girlfriend's) works in various states of earnestness. Situations like that make me feel that I should indulge my own wackiness...wear leggings, sandals and no hair product. Although now that i think about it, I'm about halfway there right now.

The weather in baltimore actually reached 60 degrees today. At least, that is what I imagine; as I was stuck in my Music & Arts cage for a good part of the day. I feel the accumulated tension of small children, large children, and slightly chilly weather. Not to mention the changes in my day to day life and my career that are about to occur. I have been reflecting on the lack of balance in my life; alot of time working, not enough with my music or loved ones. I have no real plan of action yet, I plan to continue try to juggle everything for another few months and see how things settle in.

Andrew and i had our 1 year anniversary on thursday, celebrated at the Brass Elephant. Quite simply, I am very, very happy that he is in my life.
